Map drill

Feedback

Map Drill can be used to drill down into different layers of the map, allowing you to view more detailed spatial information as the layers go deeper, helping you understand the distribution of data in different regions or layers. Select a layer and click 'Drill' in the right function panel to configure map drilling. Heat, Cluster, 3D Heat, OD, Graph Map layer style do not support drilling.

Click 'Add Layer Hierarchy' to add map drill layer hierarchy, then you can add layers within each hierarchy.

  1. When adding the layer in first hierarchy, attribute information of layer must contain at least one unique identifier field for association with the next layer.
  2. When adding layers not in the first hierarchy, attribute information of layers must contain at least one field for association with the previous layer. If it  need to associate with the layer in the next hierarchy, it must contain a unique identification field, similar to the layer in first hierarchy.

After the configuration, you can view the drilling layer in the left layer list. The icon to the right of the layer means that the current layer is the drill layer, and the icon means that you are currently in drill level.  You can implement the map drill function with the following operations:

For reference, MapStudio provides some map templates with map drilling function. In the left sidebar > Templates > 'Administrative division', select a map template to learn more about map drill.
